Six Month Photos

And here are her 6-month photos. We hope to be more timely with her 7-month pictures and updates because I will be on vacation from work that week. But of course, it's all up to Julia. :-)

She's having so much more fun playing on the floor (on/off her tummy):

Started solids this month. She wasn't sure what to think at the beginning, but she's getting the hang of it:

Still loves her "Bumbo" seat, but now she's learned how to throw herself out of it. Hence, the "caught in the act" expression:

Happy First Thanksgiving!

Julia was thankful for yams:

Julia doesn't look too thrilled, but Jonathan and I sure do (we're thankful for our greatest blessing!):

Julia was able to reacquainted with Gramma and Grampa Wessler over Thanksgiving:

Julia seems to like Grampa's beard:

Never still:

With Jonathan after his second doctoral recital:

Julia met Unk (who was in town for Jonathan's recital):

Discovering her toes:

LOVE this face... what an adorable stinker she is!

Hugs for Jamaica Monkey:

And she finally sat still long enough for her official 6-month picture:

Five-month photos

Here (finally!) are Julia's five month pictures:

Julia really started holding her head up well this month:

Practicing her pedal technique with Daddy:

Look at me hold my head up!

Her love for gnawing her fingers continues:

First time she rolled over! This is "after":

This is "before":

Looking all sweet and innocent (haha we know better!):

Checking out her new high chair:

Julia was a flower for Halloween (thanks Marmee!):

On Mommy's birthday:

So precious:

Six-month update

Hi all… here are some current facts about Julia now that she's six months old!
  • She weighed 15lbs 6oz at her last doctors' visit and measured 26.5in long.
  • She can eat some solid food! Apples are her favorite; yams and rice cereal less so. She doesn't seem to like bananas at all.
  • She developed a skin infection on the back of her head. She's taking an oral antibiotic to get rid of it, and it's working nicely, so it's almost all gone.
  • She rolls over ALL the time—every which way, ending up sometimes on the opposite corner of her jungle gym facing a different direction. Now that she can grab and hold things more or less deliberately, she's been having a really good time there!
  • Speaking of grabbing stuff, she loves paper. She's quite good at ripping it:

She's going to LOVE Christmas!

Also, regarding the five-month photos, etc. promised last time around: "They are coming!"

Rolling over

Here's Julia rolling over for the first time from front to back, October 30. (The background noise is Daddy talking to David Crean about something, probably organ music.)

Milestone today!

Julia rolled over for the first time today! And then she rolled over again and again! She's VERY proud of herself! Pictures and video were captured and will be coming soon.

Getting bigger

Julia had her 4-month check-up yesterday and clocked in at 14 lb., 14 oz. and 25 in. long. No wonder those 3 month sizes aren't fitting any longer!

Four-Month Update

Here are all the four-month updates we can think of:
  • Julia continues to develop her hand-eye coordination. Or should we say hand-eye-mouth coordination! She still likes to grab at her hanging toys on her jungle gym and her bouncer seat, but she tends to end up getting frustrated when she can't get them in her mouth, too. She still loves to suck on her hands, but she's now able to get just one finger in her mouth, which apparently is a more satisfactory sucking experience. And she also likes to suck on her pacifier again (even more than her parents' fingers).
  • She really likes to hold things (and then put them in her mouth). She "helps" by holding her pants when she gets her diaper changed. We also just got her some new soft toys that she likes to hold, wave around, and suck on.
  • Still not so much a fan of tummy time. :-( We hear most babies roll over from front to back first so not sure when that will happen. She sure does try to roll from back to front, though! But she'd probably be so upset to find herself on her tummy that she'd never do it again!
  • She sits up REALLY well on our laps and in her new Bumbo seat. However, she's also discovered that sometimes it's more fun to stand than sit.
  • Julia loves "the baby in the mirror." She smiles at herself and sometimes is shy when she sees herself in the mirror.
  • She SPLASHES in her bath! (she develops and practices her kicking skills by losing her socks about every 10 minutes) Don't think it's completely purposeful yet but she does seem to enjoy it.
  • Julia has made many friends at the Presbyterian nursery, including her babysitter Suzanne and little friends who like to hold her and try to feed her animal crackers (unfortunately the baby feeding operation had to be shut down by the authorities).
  • She seems to have pretty much figured out her new feeding schedule/method. She takes the bottle really well from Jonathan during the weekend and she and Joy love continuing to breastfeed during the week. Her sleeping patterns have been less defined. Prior to Joy returning to work, she would sleep about 8-10 hours at night. Now she sleeps anywhere from 3 to 7 (if we're lucky).
  • During the weekend, she likes going to practice with Jonathan and always falls asleep during the loud parts. She wasn't very impressed when Mommy and Daddy played together last week, though.
  • Julia continues to love the outdoors. When the weather is nice, we try to go for a daily walk in the stroller. It's been really rainy and windy here lately, and she likes to look out the window at her tree blowing in the wind.
  • She continues to like watching ND football, and she's also been following the MLB playoff games. (boo Yankees! Mommy's bringing her up right!)
  • Sadly, she's already developing some stranger/separation anxiety. She loves Mommy and Daddy, but she's starting to freak out when left with other people (although not too often at the nursery, which is good).
  • She gets excited when she has been lying down and we go to pick her up. She waves her arms and makes excited noises.
  • And of course, she continues to smile and laugh and talk at things (which sound really cute, especially when she talks with her fingers in her mouth).
Julia goes to the doctor on Wednesday, so we will be sure to update you regarding her current height and weight.

Love you all!

More Pictures!

Hi everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick! [from Jonathan to Grampa and Uncle Dan, so they will laugh... supposedly]) Anyways...

Here are some new pictures of Julia! :-)

Julia likes her pony from Great-Aunt Cheryl

She's a ham!

Julia continues to like to grab at her hanging toys...

... although she now gets frustrated that she can't get them in her mouth.

Kissing her baby

Hugs for baby!

Ready to go on an outing (she loves the outside! too bad she lives in Rochester, NY, and it's almost winter)

Bear ears! Mommy couldn't resist!

Inquisitive (and adorable, of course!)

Trying to roll over... if she would do something other than cry on her stomach, maybe she would have learned to roll that way by now!

All pooped out...

Julia got a Bumbo seat! She likes getting to sit up almost as much as she liked looking at the baby on the box!

Augh! So precious (yes, we're biased!) in her "sleep sack" because she always kicks off her covers at night (did we mention it's almost winter in Rochester, NY?)

Panda bears for Aunt Laura. She liked to look at the bears on her feet!

And four months with Jamaica Monkey!
